The One True Ingredient to Affiliate Marketing Success
Affiliate marketing is one of the best ways to make money that I know of. I can just send traffic to a website I didn’t build, selling products I don’t have to stock, and make money when they persuade the person to buy, then they ship the product out and handle everything for me - bliss! Yet still lots of people struggle to make money using this method - so what is going wrong?
I mean you need to know how to get traffic - but you can get that information for free, while I wouldn’t say it was easy then at least it is not that hard. You also need to know how to get targeted traffic rather than just flooding the site with people who have no interest in what they have to sell, but that is not the key ingredient people are missing either…
What about the products, I mean you need a useful, helpful product that people genuinely desire and hopefully solves some burning problem they have at the moment right? Well we’re getting closer now, the true ingredient to success is finding an offer that converts well. If you can find that magic website that does a really great job of converting traffic to sales then everything else starts to slot into place. If the offers you promote convert only ok, then you will be stuck only doing ok.
Having an offer that converts like gangbusters will motivate you to work harder, to find new and better ways to drive traffic to that offer, to test things, to try out paid traffic, and it makes it all easier because you get money back for your efforts as the offer converts so well. Most people fail because they give up too quickly, and I know how demoralising it is to promote offers that just don’t convert, you put all that effort into getting people to the offer, and you get nothing back return - then you give up and try another one until you quit entirely. With an offer that converts well internet marketing becomes fun again!
So pick the offers that are converting the best on the affiliate networks, they usually let you know how well an offer is doing with their network statistics, pick the ones that are selling the most, and then test, rotate between some of the best offers and record how many people click through your links and how many people actually buy. Then keep the winner.
You can also increase the conversion of the offer by preselling people before they get to the site, tell them what you think of the offer, why you like it and how it is going to benefit them. Then try offering a bonus as well, it can just be a quick guide on how to get the most out of their new TV, whatever, but it is another tick in the ‘yes box’ in their mind when they are weighing up whether to buy it or not.
